Pastor:  Why do you look for the living among the dead?

He is not here; He has risen! The Lord is risen!

People:  The Lord has risen indeed! Alleluia!

HYMN  "Jesus Christ Is Risen Today"             LSB #457

Jesus Christ is ris’n today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

During the year we light the Pascal Candle this candle symbolizes the Light of Lights, Jesus Christ, who appeared to be extinguished on Good Friday, is alive. The candle in the church burns for the next 40 days to remind us that Jesus was present for 40 days before He ascended into heaven. May the light of Christ, who is risen in glory from the dead, scatter all the darkness in our hearts.

Pastor:      Behold the Light of Christ!

People:  Thanks be to God!

Pastor:      Behold the Light of Christ!

People:  Thanks be to God!

Pastor:  The Lord is risen!

People:  He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Pastor:  In Baptism your old sinful nature was buried with Christ when He died. When God the Father brought Him back to life again, you were given His wonderful new life to enjoy. To remind ourselves of what happens at our Baptism, we speak words that were spoken at our Baptism... In the name of the Father and of the Son T and of the Holy Spirit.

Pastor:  The risen Lord be with you,

People:  And also with you.

Pastor:  Let us pray. O God, You gave Your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by His glorious resurrection You delivered us from the power of death. Make us die every day to sin, so that we may live with Him forever in the joy of the resurrection; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

People:  Amen (Be seated)

EPISTLE.................................................... Acts 10:34-43

So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. As for the word that he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all), you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear, not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

PSALMODY - PSALM 16  (Read Responsively)

P My heart is glad              C  My heart rejoices;

P Your Holy One              C will not see decay.

P  In Your presence         C There is joy;

ALL: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and

will be forever. Amen

HOLY GOSPEL.................................... Matthew 28:1-10

Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and

there they will see me.”

EASTER CREED (STAND - by the baptismal font)

Pastor:  Here at Emmanuel we have the Baptismal font and in it is water, this the place where your life in the Lord began. Once you were no people; now you are His people. Do you believe  in God the Father?

People:  Yes, I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.

Pastor:  Do you believe in Jesus Christ?

People:  Yes, I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

Pastor:  Do you believe in the Holy Spirit?

People:  Yes, I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting Amen.

Pastor:  Do you renounce the devil and all evil works and

ways? Do you renounce your old, dead life?

People:  Yes, once we were dead in our sins, but now alive in Christ!

Pastor:  Is it your desire to live as God's Alleluia people?

People:  We continue to celebrate the presence of God's love in our lives and to grow with each other in Christ, our risen Lord. We will live as God's Alleluia people!

Pastor: In the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, crucified and now risen from the dead, let us pray for the whole people of God according to their needs. (A brief silence)... We thank You, risen Lord, that because You live we shall live forever also. You have defeated our greatest enemies, sin and death.

We rejoice in Your resurrection power and say:

People:  Alleluia! Hear our prayer.

Pastor: Risen Lord, while we are surrounded by a host of enemies that cause us to fear, we celebrate today that You are our strength, our song and our salvation. Through Your Holy Spirit increase our confidence, and empower us to live joy- filled lives. We rejoice in Your resurrection power and say:

People:  Alleluia! Hear our prayer.

Pastor: Risen Lord, You are good, and Your mercy endures forever. Extend your healing hand over all who suffer... bring them to rejoicing and gladness on this day. We rejoice in Your

resurrection power and say:

People:  Alleluia! Hear our prayer.

Pastor:  Risen Lord, enable us to believe the good news of Your resurrection; and empower us to proclaim to the world Your great victory. We rejoice in Your resurrection power and say:

People:  Alleluia! Hear our prayer.

Pastor:  Into Your hand, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in the power of Your resurrection; through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our risen Lord.

People:  Amen

Pastor:  Now may the God of peace---who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, the great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant---make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight; through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.

People:  Amen
